Cement, epoxy or pre-mixed grout: which to choose?

, Updated

Choosing a grout depends on joint width, area of use and the need for stain and chemical resistance. This comparison is based on the datasheets of the products in our range.

Cement grout

1600 Unsanded Grout is a smooth cement grout classified CG2WA under BS EN 13888 (CG2: improved cementitious grout; W: reduced water absorption; A: high abrasion resistance). It is for narrow joints of 3 mm or less, mixed with water or with 1776 Grout Enhancer for a denser joint that inhibits mold and mildew.

Pre-mixed grout

SPECTRALOCK 1 Pre-Mixed Grout gives the performance of an epoxy grout (ANSI A118.3) without epoxy resins. It suits joints from 2 to 9 mm and needs no sealer on the joint.
